Shortfic under the read more to go along with the screenies! It's rated T. WoLRaha/Edraha. Eddie is one of my WoLs! Drunk first kisses for the ARR day of the countdown. I was gonna do something Not-Shippy but y'all know me, sucker for romance. Also, I wanted to Gpose them smooching, but Brio and the pose wouldn't cooperate at all so I did some minor editing and came up w/ this instead.

"Nophica's Knockers!"

Edvard laughed raucously at G'raha's poor attempt at a joke, nearly falling off the table he'd perched on somewhere between Horizon and Vesper Bay. You see, he'd drunkenly agreed to take G'raha to see some of his favourite places in between their travails for the Sons of Saint Coinach and all that entailled, and now he was having to make good on his promise with a very tipsy G'raha while not being too far away from paralletic drunk himself.

"Y'can't say that, Ed!"

G'raha swatted at Ed's arm playfully and in doing so lost his balance. He didn't quite tip into the sea off the docks, (though Eddie was keen to see him do so, just for the laughs,) but rather caught his balance on his knees with a 'ta-da' style flourish.

They fell silent a moment then, the characteristic awkward silences that fell over them when they were alone together coming on full force. Ed blushed, and cast his glance away from G'raha, who flirtily tried to catch his eye, the Miqo'te extending his hand out to touch the warm brown leather of Eddie's boot on the foot which dangled from the table.

Edvard eventually looked back at G'raha, catching his eyeline and giving a shy, small smile.

"Since I met you," G'raha hiccoughed, then continued. "Since I met you, my life has been infinitely richer for knowing you, my friend."

Eddie's blush was refusing to subside, even as he closed his eyes and giggled lightly.

"It is a pity, however, that we are both very drunk and you won't remember this tomorrow."

G'raha stood up and closed the gap between them, standing between Ed's legs with a determined look on his face. Edvard's already raised eyebrow raised further, practically shooting into his hairline as G'raha leaned in and kissed him.

Eddie made a surprised, but pleased, noise, one which caught in his chest and was embarassingly feminine in tone. G'raha's lips were rougher than he'd been expecting, he noted.

He wound his arms around Raha's shoulders and leaned up against the Miqo'te, to which G'raha replied by slipping his arms around Ed's waist and leaning hard against the table edge, still standing between Edvard's legs as he tilted his head and kissed Ed properly.

The only times Ed had been kissed, prior to G'raha kissing him, were either pecks on the cheek from his chosen family, (which obviously didn't count, since he saw them all as his siblings or parental figures,) or one occasion previous where he'd been all but forced into kissing a girl. The less said about her, the better, and Ed didn't want to colour this memory by thinking about her, so he swiftly put a stop to that train of thought and went back to just enjoying kissing G'raha.

Raha wasn't a bad kisser at all, which was another thing which surprised Eddie. Considering he was affectionatelly called a 'nerd' by Ed more often than not, and considering Raha's reputation for being acholarly, it was a pleasant surprise that he seemed to know what he was doing. Not that Ed had any frame of reference, of course.

When they broke apart, Edvard was already laughing.

"Was I that bad!?" G'raha excalimed, though he was grinning madly himself, drunkenly teetering about while he waited for Ed to reply.

"Not bad at all, Raha. Not bad at all."

In 1857 the crew of the HMS Fox under Sir Francis Leopold McClintock set out on a search mission for the lost Franklin Expedition, privately funded by Lady Jane Franklin, née Griffin.¹ Two years later, in a cairn believed to originally have been built by Sir James Clark Ross in 1831 during Sir John Ross' Second Arctic Expedition (1829-1833), the men made a remarkable discovery:²

The so called Victory Point Note³ - named after its place of discovery on the northwest coast of King William Land (modern King William Island, Inuktitut: Qikiqtaq) - has been identified as a standard Admirality form⁴ that contains two reports from the Franklin Expedition: The initial note was deposited by Lieutenant Graham Gore and Mate Charles Frederick Des Voeux on May 28, 1847. The note was later retrieved by Lieutenant John Irving and updated by Captain Francis Rawdon Moira Crozier and James Fitzjames on April 25, 1848, most importantly reporting the death of Sir John Franklin - the leader of the expedition - on June 11, 1847, and the captains' decision to abandon their ships in an attempt to reach the Great Fish River (modern Back River, Inkutitut: Haningayok) by foot.⁵ It's one of the only written documents of the Franklin Expedition that was ever found.

That's probably well-known context here.

The fact that Gore is referred to as "late Commander" in the updated note is an odd choice. Gore had, in fact, been promoted to Commander in absentia on November 9, 1846,⁶ but the men of the Franklin Expedition had no way of knowing this due to their last confirmed contact to the outside world being dated to July 1845.⁷ An in-field promotion after the initial Victory Point Note had been deposited seems the most likely explanation.⁸ While we could assume that Fitzjames⁹ merely made a mistake when he wrote down Gore's rank in the updated Victory Point Note - just as he had gotten the date of the initial note wrong - I'm inclined to give him the benefit of doubt (for now).

That the word "late" should be understood as "former" instead of "deceased" in this context, as can sometimes be read online, and, thus, cannot provide any information on Gore's further fate would only make sense under the requirements that a) an in-field promotion of Gore's had in fact taken place and that b) Fitzjames had originally intended to write "late Lieutenant Gore" but that's highly speculative. Given the evidence, we have to assume (like McClintock did himself)¹⁰ that Gore died between May 28, 1847, and April 25, 1848. At most Gore's possible in-field promotion could suggest that he had died after June 11, 1847, assuming that the promotion was given in the context of filling gaps in rank following Franklin's death instead of by merit.

Arminta (NSB): My newest of the sims here. She is still my prettiest sim in my opinion. I love her. And my only vanilla legacy apparently. 

Snow (DPR): My oldest sim here. She’s gotten a bit of a makeover. When I first played with her I didn’t have any CC so she’s grown a lot. Also I had no idea how to make sims. Her body type is sooo skinny. 

Lily (BPR): who?? She is a sim I made with the intention of making her different than any of my other sims. And she turned out...interesting. And very flat. Both in character and look. Sorry babe... Your eyes must see everything.

Dia (CAS BPR): The BPR I never finished. She is just too pretty not to include. I love her and really tried to do something new in CAS when I made her. I think it actually worked.

Jazz (Crayola): Aww, my girl. Technically I always thought it was Jazz’s story so I’m going to count her as my founder for it. When I made her, I knew I wanted two founders who were so different in body type and style so that’s what I did. Plus I literally made her to fit that hair. 

Eros (Mythos): Technically not a legacy, but he started a lot for me. And he’s gotten an upgrade since this look but I love him all the same. My boy! 

So clearly I like the colorful sims and rainbowcies that start with a white sim. I am doing more vanilla work these days, but less legacies. The last actual founder I made was Arminta but we haven’t even gotten to gen 2 so is that a real legacy? Hmm..
